Growing up with horses and 4H judging gave me a decent eye years before I was either interested in or financially able to exhibit in breed. My primary focus was in performance - obedience and schutzhund - but when I saw those curvy "breed" dogs I just had to have the best of both worlds! So began the "Kapp/Tsali" breeding program. I used a combination of German and American lines to raise some of the prettiest "pets" on the east coast!

"Kelly"

kellyheadweb.jpg (19749 bytes)       teamweb.jpg (32431 bytes)

It all started with "Kelly".    Kelly was the light of my life! She gave me everything I ever asked for and then some. She was the one who taught me patience and that I might as well relax and have fun because she was going to! Her sense of humor inspired several stories published in Front & Finish and the Canadian GSD Gazette. Never did figure out how the articles made it from Georgia to Canada!

Three trials for Novice and on to Open. Thirty two (32) trials to complete her CDX has got to be some kind of record! She qualified in every match she ever entered but take her to a trial and watch the fun! Folks came from near and far just to place bets on what she'd do at "this" trial. From acting like Scarlet O'Hara to working a near perfect routine while doing a complete set of fronts and finished with the judge instead of me, to being a part of the winning team at the 1986 National, she entertained crowds all over the southeast and was a true ambassador for the breed. For those of you who were there, she was the one who rolled over on her back, threw all four feet to the sky and wallowed on the Parent Clubs expensive turf during the team competition! She ended up swapping ends several times in that five minutes (long down) and ended up facing the crowd in a perfect sphinx position when Dalene MacEntire stopped laughing long enough to say "return to your dogs". I played along and finished facing the crowd with the rest of my teammates facing the judge. Most fun I've ever had in the obedience ring. Kelly lived with me because she chose to but she belonged to no one but herself!  She was gone at age 10 to a ruptured spine while playing ball.  She came into my life suddenly, lived life to the fullest, and left the same way - my shooting star!

Roseweb.jpg (24444 bytes)

Gypsy was my introduction to Australian Shepherds. I was honored to be able to handle her in several ASCA Specialty shows and as Best Veteran at the Atlanta Herding Breeds Association mighty match (350+ entry). She is the reason I have Aussies!

Gala was my first attempt at a conformation GSD.  She tried to give me every thing I asked, even when I asked the impossible. She was the truck guardian and grandma to every animal in the house for nearly 11 years, including her cat.

"Ellie"

Ellieweb.jpg (22330 bytes)

"Ellie" was the ultimate brat! She was home bred and came along before I could really afford to show and there was no way she was EVER leaving my house, even for a championship, although I had many offers. She is the reason I love sables! She was so bright. My favorite Ellie story was the time a friend sat on her end of the sofa. She sat, stared, and nudged for several minutes. When the offending party wouldn't move, she walked to the door and rang the bell [thats a whole other story] to go outside. I got up to let her out and she wouldn't go. She walked back over, nudged Wayne and walked back to the door and rang the bell. By this time he was getting frustrated. I told him, "I guess she wants you to let her out." He told me I read way too much into her actions. Then she nudged him again and rang the bell. When he got up to open the door, yup, you guessed it. She claimed the sofa! What more can I say?  BRAINS, BEAUTY, BRAT!!

(Ulan von Arminus SchH3  X  Betty von der Eichwaldhutte SchH3)

(German Import)

Esta was fun! She had attitude and presence. She had two HITs and one HS GSD on her CD. Esta produced several top schutzhund and AKC obedience competitors and bred to "Hondo" produced, among others, Gretta and a handsome male used extensively by the schutzhund folks in Atlanta - Kapp's Indiana Jones.

"Farro"

"Farro" was twenty years before his time. This handsome fellow was imported from Germany in the mid '80's and was never used by American breeders. What a shame. A good dog is a good dog, regardless of their breeder's native language.  Farro sired several German bred litters and produced outstanding character and "American breed type" in his progeny.  They were wonderful family companions and schutzhund competitors.  What more could anyone ask for???

Gretta was my first try at breeding a German/American cross.  She could have finished at the all breeds but lived most of her life as a companion to an elderly friend.  She came home at age 10 and knew she was home.

Affectionately known as "the dude" because of his attitude, he graced us with his presence. The GSD breeder judges appreciated his flying side gait and because of that shoulder he won many GSD people over to the breed.

Firedog  was my second homebred champion and my heart.  He decided he was going to be MY dog at an early age and wormed his way into my heart, where he will always remain.  Fire was the  lord of the manor and self-appointed guardian of his domain (and me, and the girls, and the house, and the truck, etc.)  Fire sired his first litter at 8 years of age and 2nd litter at 11.  Fire was from a multiple champion litter and ½ brother to BIS Ch Bayshore’s Flapjack.
